Penn State vs. Iowa: Stephfon Green Back With Team

Senior running back might play against the Hawkeyes on Saturday.

Senior running back Stephfon Green has yet to take the field for Penn State through five games this season, but at his weekly press conference on Tuesday coach Joe Paterno offered a glimmer of hope that he might see some action on Saturday againt Iowa at Beaver Stadium.

"He's back with us," Paterno said. "He's working with the second and third offensive teams."

Paterno offered little about his playing status for this week against the Hawkeyes, however.

Green has missed all five games this season thanks to a pair of incidents. Late in the summer, Green was forced from the team by Paterno after a violation of team rules, and earlier this season, it was revealed he was involved an alcohol furnishing incident over the summer.

It appears the coach is ready to put that in the past, however, so we'll see if Green gets any carries this week. If he does, it will come as welcomed relief for starting back Silas Redd, who has shouldered much of the running load the last two weeks with Green suspended and Brandon Beachum out with a sprained ankle.

In his career, Green has eight carries for 48 yards against the Hawkeyes, a 6.0 yard per carry average.
