Penn State Coaching Search: Dan Mullen Comments On Rumors

Stay connected for news and updates

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen was tied to the Penn State coaching search on Tuesday afternoon when a report from ESPN's Joe Schad said the former Florida assistant is "at the forefront of the Nittany Lions' list of candidates." Later in the day, he faced questions from reporters at his weekly press conference in Starkville.

When asked about his reaction to the report, Mullen responded by saying "Great. Everytime a job comes open, doesn't my name come up? You know our policy, we talk Mississippi State football."

The Drexel Hill native acknowledged he grew up a Penn State fan and noted his father graduated from the university in the 1960s. He was also quick to note his satisfaction with his role at Mississippi State, however.

"The school really stepped up last year and took care of me," Mullen said. "I know that I'm very very happy with the agreement that we came upon last year."

When asked whether he or his agent had been contacted by Penn State, Mullen had no comment.
