Penn State Coaching Search: Tom Bradley Plans To Coach Bowl Game

With Penn State now knee-deep in its search to find a replacement for former head coach Joe Paterno after the announcement of a six-person search committee headed by acting athletic director David Joyner on Monday, interim coach Tom Bradley's role with the program could be in flux.

The long-time Paterno assistant expects to be around at least through the bowl game, however, as Cory Giger of the Altoona Mirror reports.

"No one has said anything to me about not coaching the bowl game," Bradley told the Mirror late Wednesday night.

Penn State President Rodney Erickson said earlier Wednesday at a town hall meeting on campus that the school hopes to hire Joe Paterno's successor before the bowl game.

Bradley said he had not heard about Erickson's comments when contacted by the Mirror. Even if a new coach is hired before the bowl, Bradley said, "That doesn't mean he's going to coach the bowl game."

In a press box interview at Ohio State going on two weeks ago, Joyner did not rule out the possibility of Bradley being retained as full-time head coach. With reports surfacing that Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen is a frontrunner to get the job, though, it would appear Bradley has some ground to make up if he's going to stick around.
