Penn State Coaching Search: Tom Clements To Interview, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

Just over a week ago, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Rob Rossi and Bob Cohn reported that Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach and McKees Rocks native Tom Clements had applied for Pen State's vacant head coaching position. The interest level of acting athletic director David Joyner and his six-person search committee was unclear at that point, but now, it appears at least some interest is mutual.

John Saraceno of USA Today is reporting that Penn State will interview Clements by phone on Friday. The former CFL and NFL quarterback played his college football at Notre Dame and has coached an assistant with his alma mater, the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and since 2006, the Packers.

In Green Bay, Clements worked with Packers legend Brett Favre during one his his most productive seasons ever in 2007 and has since molded Aaron Rodgers into an MVP candidate.

For more on Clements, check out our profile of him from last week.
