Penn State vs. Mount St. Mary's: Nittany Lions Lead At Half

Penn State took an early lead in its game against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center, but the Mountaineers were able to hang around and head into the half down just three at 28-25.

The Nittany Lions used a balanced scoring attack in the first half, getting five points from guard Jermaine Marshall, six points each from forward Billy Oliver and guard Tim Frazier and seven points from guard Cammeron Woodyard. Their collective 34.6 percent shooting effort, however, allowed their opponents to stay in the game.

Chad Holley led the Mountaineers with eight points in the half. Raven Barber had six.

Penn State beat Mount St. Mary's 18-16 overall in the rebounding column and 5-3 on the offensive boards. The Lions also forced seven turnovers, which helped them achieve the early lead.

In the second half, look to see if Penn State can maintain its edge at the free throw line. The Lions took eight more free throw attempts than the Mountaineers in the second half. If Penn State can keep getting to the line that often while not giving Mount St. Mary's nearly as many freebies, they should be on their way to holding on in this one.
