Penn State Coaching Search: Job 'Toxic'; Bo Pelini Interviews, According To Report

Interviews for Penn State's vacant head coaching position are under way, but what is the market looking like for acting athletic director David Joyner and his six-person search committee? Ron Musselman of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette might have an answer.

"The Penn State job is a toxic situation -- everybody is steering clear of it," the agent told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Monday.

Musselman also reports that Nebraska coach Bo Pelini was interviewed by Joyner last week in Texas, but says he is no longer "in the mix." Sean Callahan HuskerOnline.com tweets that at a press conference on Tuesday, Pelini denied interviewing or meeting with anyone for the job.

In parts of five seasons with the Cornhuskers, Pelini has a 39-15 record with a 3-1 record in bowl games. This season, he guided Nebraska to a 9-3 record in its first Big Ten season. His team will face South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 2 in Orlando, Fla.
