Penn State Coaching Search: Chris Petersen Not Interested, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

A day after reporting that Penn State has been making a hard push to lure Boise State coach Chris Petersen to Happy Valley, David Jones of the Harrisburg Patriot-News now reports that Petersen "is not interested" in replacing Joe Paterno as the Nittany Lions' head football coach.

Jones also says that co-defensive coordinator Ron Vanderlinden is not interested, not has he been contacted about taking the defensive coordinator job at Maryland under head coach Randy Edsall. Vanderlinden coached there from 1997-2000 before jumping on board with Penn State. The Terrapins are coming off of a 2-10 campaign in College Park.

Vanderlinden was elevated to co-defensive coordinator from linebackers coach when Tom Bradley was named the Lions' interim head coach on Nov. 9 following Paterno's firing in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.
