Penn State Coaching Search: David Joyner Offers Update

Stay connected for news and updates

The Penn State football team ate at Gilley's in Dallas on Thursday night as part of the first official event surrounding their game against Houston in the TicketCity Bowl next week, and while there, acting athletic director David Joyner updated reporters on the search for Joe Paterno's replacement.

According to a string of tweets from BWI's Nate Bauer, Joyner said that the search is going well and that his six-person search committee is "right where he thought they would be."

He also said that no candidate has been chosen and that no contract has been negotiated with anyone yet. Bauer tweeted that the search, on since late November, is taking so long in Joyner's eyes because "they are going about it in systematic way and have special specific qualities they are looking for."

Bob Flounders of the Harrisburg Patriot-News tweets that Joyner has set no timetable and said that he is happy with the field of applicants.
