daily dose of sports in the burgh.
The West Virginia and Penn State women's basketball teams have both made the NCAA women's tournament.
After beginning their season with 16 straight wins, the WVU women fell apart down the stretch, losing eight of their last 12, and now they have a No. 9 seed. That's respectable, certainly, but if they win their first game against No. 8 seed Houston (at 5:10 PM Sunday in Waco), they'll likely have to face No. 1 seed Baylor, one of the best teams in the country. And that game will also be in Waco, where Baylor is based.
Penn State has a No. 6 seed and will get a home game against No. 11 Dayton at 11:10 AM on Saturday. If Penn State can win that one, it will face either No. 3 DePaul or No. 14 Navy. Penn State went 24-9 overall, performing well down the stretch with an 11-5 Big Ten record with a win over Ohio State and two wins over Iowa.
