Penn State Football Spring Practice: Junior Day Attendees List Becoming Clearer

The Altoona Mirror has reported a number of the recruits that are likely to be on campus this weekend for Penn State's Junior Day. The recruits range from close at home to far away, and many of them are already highly ranked by the national recruiting services. Some of the more notable players named include:

  • Three highly recruited Massachusetts players in WR Canaan Severin (possibly), LB Camren Williams, and DB Armani Reeves. The latter two players are West Roxbury teammates, and are thought to be a package deal. Victory Bell Rings targets Williams as a potential commit by the end of the weekend.
  • Pennsylvania offensive linemen JJ Denman (Pennsbury) and Chris Muller (Boyertown Area) will be on campus. Muller recently named PSU as his leader, and many feel like he could be No. 2 on the 2012 commit list.
  • Pennsylvania RB Drew Harris (Downingtown East), who many feel is a lock to head south for college, will visit this weekend. If Penn State is to have any shot, they need to make a strong push for Harris now, or concentrate efforts elsewhere if Harris is intent on leaving the state.

The article mentions some players that have already changed their plans (Florida TE Kent Taylor), but by and large, it's a pretty accurate list. However, nothing is official until the kids step on campus. These visits are very strong recruiting tools, as nothing can compare to actually setting foot in the facilities and fields on which a recruit will be playing.

UPDATE: JC Shurburtt of 247Sports has an interesting article about the depth of Maryland and Pennsylvania in this year's recruiting class. Included within the article is a non-exhaustive list of Junior Day attendees, including two recruits from Maryland's football powerhouse, DeMatha Catholic, in Michael Moore and Brent Wilkerson.

Stay tuned for any news, hopefully Anthony Stanko gets some company on the Class of 2012 Commitment List.
