Penn State vs. Eastern Michigan: Brandon Beachum Won't Play Against Eagles

Penn State is going to be pretty thin at running back on Saturday against Eastern Michigan as The Daily Collegian's Mike Still is reporting Brandon Beachum sprained his ankle at practice on Tuesday said he will not play against the Eagles.

The redshirt junior said someone fell on his right foot during a goal line drill at practice on Tuesday. Beachum said he saw team doctors Tuesday after practice. X-rays confirmed he sprained his ankle, and hadn't broken anything.

With fellow running back Stephfon Green suspended for the next two games by coach Joe Paterno, that leaves starter Silas Redd and Curtis Dukes as Penn State's primary ground threats on Saturday. Expect fullbacks Michael Zordich and Joe Suhey to get a lot of action as well, as their power running styles match very well with Beachum's.

Redd had some cramping issues last week at Temple, so we'll see if he's able to handle the increased load this weekend.
