Penn State Coaching Search: Jay Paterno Speaks After Meeting (VIDEO)

Stay connected for news and updates

Penn State assistant coaches met with acting athletic director David Joyner at the Lasch Football Building on Friday afternoon. The Associated Press's Genaro C. Armas reports they were told Joyner's six-person search committee has decided on an outside hire to replace long-time head coach Joe Paterno, who was fired on Nov. 9 in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

After the meeting, quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Jay Paterno walked past the media on the way to his car and had a few words for reporters. Check out the StateCollege.com video below.

Paterno told reporters that he is still employed by Penn State and that the school will make an announcement about the resolution of its search on its terms. He otherwise offered no details of what transpired in the meeting with Joyner. He departed by saying "Have a good weekend. I'm sure you'll be busy."
