Here’s an updated look at the NCAA Tournament bracket, reflecting tonight’s Sweet 16 action.
The tournament is now down to the Elite Eight. In the Southeast Region, No. 2 Florida will face No. 8 Butler on Saturday at 4:30. In the West, No. 3 UConn will play No. 5 Arizona at 7:05 Saturday.
In the East region, North Carolina and Kentucky will face one another after those schools’ defeats of Marquette and Ohio State, respectively.
VCU will face Kansas after the Rams pulled off a one-point victory over Florida State after a ragged, mistake-filled overtime period in which both teams were clearly gassed. VCU scored the go-ahead basket with only a few seconds remaining. Bradford Burgess finished with 26 points for VCU, while point guard Joey Rodriguez had 10 assists. The Rams’ unlikely run continues – this is a team that had to play a first-round game, for goodness sakes – but they’ll face a very tough opponent this weekend in the Jayhawks.
