Pitt Football's Anthony Gonzalez Arrested For Marijuana Possession

As our own Anson Whaley reported earlier, backup Pitt quarterback Anthony Gonzalez was suspended late Tuesday for a violation of team rules. While the University did not stipulate the cause of the suspension, it appears the Allentown Morning Call may have uncovered one.

Bethlehem police said that Anthony Gonzalez was arrested early Friday on a charge of marijuana possession in Bethlehem. Gonzalez and two other men were arrested at 12:46 a.m. Friday at E. 3rd and Hobart streets in Bethlehem, police said.

It's not hard to believe that this is likely the reason Pitt coach Todd Graham decided on a suspension. It will certainly be interesting to see how Graham handles the situation after all the negative publicity Pitt earned last year for players running afoul of the law. He certainly didn't wait long before suspending Gonzalez, but how much teeth the suspension will have is still up in the air. Stay tuned to SB Nation Pittsburgh for more details.
