Cincinnati Vs. Pitt: Panthers' Woes Continue

Pitt’s struggles continued and right now, there appears to be no end in sight for the slumping Panthers.

In case you missed it, Pitt dropped their third straight game – this one coming at the hands of Big East foe the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Panthers now have started off Big East play a stunning 0-2.

The problems again came with shooting the ball and holding onto it. Pitt shot only 41% from the field and they also turned the ball over a whopping 17 times. The Panthers held a major edge on the boards, but when you don’t take care of the ball, it’s hard to win.

Frankly, the way the Panthers are playing right now, it’s really hard to pick out too many guaranteed wins on their schedule. There are games they should win, but this was one of them. Playing an average Big East team at home that is missing its best player, would be a win for the Panthers in most seasons. Unfortunately, Pitt is really out of sorts this year and missing starting point guard Tray Woodall isn’t helping. Woodall got back on the court in Pitt’s last game against Notre Dame, but missed tonight’s contest. With reports that he’s not recovering well, it’s hard to know when we might not only see him again, but see him play at a high level.
