Quarterback Tino Sunseri of the Pittsburgh Panthers won the Big East Player of the Week award for his game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, according to Jerry DiPaola. The Panthers were upset-minded and prevailed 27-6 in front of the home crowd.

Sunseri has had a very uneven career at Pittsburgh, but he had a tremendous outing against Rutgers, throwing for 227 yards and two touchdowns. Sunseri was coming off a great game the week before, where he shredded the UConn Huskies with a 302-yard effort.

The senior signal-caller has enjoyed the best year of his time with the Panthers, throwing for just under 2,900 yards. Most impressive, Sunseri hasn't made many mistakes, tossing 18 touchdowns and just two interceptions.

The Panthers kept their bowl hopes alive with the victory, and now have to beat the South Florida Bulls this week to give themselves bowl eligibility.

It would be quite a turnaround for a team that opened the season losing to Youngstown State.
