Pittsburgh's second-half effort is enough to outlast Howard at the Peterson Events Center as the Panthers top the Bison, 70-46.

Behind guard Lamar Patterson's 15 points and forward Talib Zanna's eight rebounds, the Pittsburgh Panthers bested the Howard Bison on Tuesday night from the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, 70-46.

The Panthers and Bison played closely during the first half as Howard led in the early going and only trailed Pittsburgh by a few points during the first portion of the first half. But as the first half drew to a close, the Panthers pulled away with help from a Patterson and guard James Robinson, who finished the night with 11 points.

Bison center Alphonso Leary helped keep Howard in the game in the first half, and Leary would finish the night with 10 points, five rebounds and six blocks. Howard guard Simuel Frazier, who finished with a team-high 12 points while dishing out six assists, helped facilitate the Bison's early success.

Leading by only eight points at intermission, the Panthers turned it on in the second half, using a 26-10 run to extend their lead out to a dominating 24-point margin they would never relinquish.

Howard guard Prince Okoroh, who scored four of his six points in the second half, saw his effort come as the Panthers were pulling away.
