US PRESSWIRE

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema has agreed to become the new coach at Arkansas, will Paul Chryst now leave Pittsburgh for Wisconsin?

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema has agreed to leave the Badgers to become the new coach at Arkansas. With Bielema gone, many wonder if Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst will leave to take over in Madison.

Chryst was the quarterback of the Badgers in the late '80s and was more recently an assistant coach for Wisconsin. He was the tight ends coach of the Badgers in 2002 and was the offensive coordinator from 2005-11 before becoming the head coach at Pitt.

Since Dave Wannstedt left in Dec. 2010, the Panthers have had five head coaches. Phil Bennett served as an interim coach after Wannstedt left. Michael Haywood was hired as his replacement, but was fired days after being hired due to domestic violence charges. Pitt named Todd Graham as head coach for the 2011 season, but he left at the end of the season for Arizona State. He was replaced by Keith Patterson on an interim basis. Chryst was named head coach on Dec. 22, 2011 and led the Panthers to a 6-6 record this season.

Bielema will replace John L. Smith at Arkansas.
