Paul Chryst Loses First Assistant Before Pitt's Season Begins

New Pitt football head coach Paul Chryst had done his share of poaching assistants from Wisconsin's staff, so it's only fair that the Badgers return the favor.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema came for one of Chryst's assistants today, picking up running backs coach Eddie Faulkner. Faulkner joined Pitt's staff this offseason, but he'll be leaving without even coaching a single practice for the Panthers.

While the move is a surprise to be sure, the fact that Faulkner is a Wisconsin alum had a lot to do with him leaving. It's still disappointing to see a coach leave without coaching a single game, though. Chryst had wrapped up his coaching staff with the addition of Inoke Breckterfield as the team's defensive line coach last week, but that's now changing as he'll need to find a new running backs coach.
