Stay connected for news and updates

The NIT begins Tuesday night, with about half the teams play their first-round games. After Pitt didn't receive a bid (winding up in the CBI instead), there aren't any local teams in the NIT, but as you wait for the NCAA Tournament to get started, the NIT is a fun diversion. Here's a look at the schedule for Tuesday.

No. 5 UMass vs. No. 4 Mississippi State, 7:00 p.m., ESPN2/3
No. 8 Stony Brook vs. No. 1 Seton Hall, 7:15 p.m., ESPN3
No. 2 Dayton vs. No. 7 Iowa, 7:30 p.m., ESPN/ESPN3
No. 8 Savannah State vs. No. 1 Tennessee, 8:00 p.m., ESPNU
No. 5 Akron vs. No. 4 Northwestern, 9:00 p.m., ESPN2/3
No. 5 Marshall vs. No. 4 Middle Tennessee, 9:15 p.m., ESPN3
No. 6 LSU vs. No. 3 Oregon, 9:30 p.m., ESPN/ESPN3
No. 8 Texas-Arlington vs. No. 1 Washington, 10:00 p.m., ESPNU
No. 6 Cleveland State vs. No. 3 Stanford, 11:00 p.m., ESPN2/3
