CBI Scores: Pitt Beats Princeton, Perhaps Setting Up Pitt Vs. Butler Rematch

Stay connected for news and updates

Pitt advanced to the semifinals of the CBI on Monday by thrashing Princeton, 81-62, in yet another sparsely-populated game.

The Panthers had a 49-25 lead at the half. Their scoring slowed in the second half, and Princeton got to within 11 near the end of the second half, but the Panthers’ lead was too great.

Tray Woodall had a huge game for the Panthers, posting 15 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Lamar Patterson had 19 points, while Nasir Robinson had 12 points and 10 blocks.

In the semifinals, Pitt will play the winner of Monday night’s Butler vs. Penn tilt. A Butler matchup would be the most appealing — the Bulldogs bounced the Panthers from the 2011 NCAA Tournament. If Butler wins, Pitt would head to Indianapolis to face them Wednesday night. If Penn wins, the game will be in Pittsburgh.

The other two CBI games Monday night are Wyoming vs. Washington State and TCU vs. Oregon State.
