What are some of the key games for the Panthers this season as they try to make a run at a Big East title?
The schedule for the 2012 college football season was announced by the Big East on Tuesday. The Pitt Panthers have five of their 12 games scheduled for national broadcast on ESPN family of networks or NBC.
The Panthers will start their season on Saturday, Sept. 1 when they face FCS opponent Youngstown State. Pitt opens Big East play five days later on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. when they travel to play the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Other key non-conference games for Pitt include hosting the Virginia Tech Hokies on Sept. 15 and traveling to South Bend, Ind. to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Nov. 3 at 3:30 p.m, broadcast live on NBC.
