UConn Vs. WVU Score: West Virginia Up At Halftime In Big East Tournament Matchup

The West Virginia Mountaineers had a strong ending to the first half of their Big East Tournament game against UConn Wednesday afternoon, and they head to the locker room with a 30-26 lead.

As we might have guessed, Kevin Jones and Jeremy Lamb have led their respective teams so far, with Jones picking up 13 points and four rebounds and Lamb racking up 12 points.

The Huskies held small leads throughout much of the first half, but Jones’ scoring kept the game close. With UConn up by three with six minutes left in the half, Jones hit a three-pointer to tie it, then hit a layup after Shabazz Napier responded with a three of his own. After that, Dominique Rutledge, Gary Browne and Jones all hit baskets to end the half with WVU up by four.

This is a big game for both teams — the Mountaineers can solidify their standing as a clear NCAA Tournament team with a victory (although they’re probably in regardless), and the Huskies could find themselves on the bubble if they lose.
