CBI aside, Pitt's men's basketball season wasn't much to write home about, but the Panthers announced team awards at a banquet Sunday night. Tray Woodall and Lamar Patterson won the team's MVP awards. Here are the rest of the awards:
Most Valuable Player: Tray Woodall, Lamar Patterson
Most Improved Player: J.J. Moore
Best Defensive Player: Talib Zanna
Captains Award: Ashton Gibbs, Nasir Robinson, Nick Rivers, Tray Woodall
Team Free Throw Leader: John Johnson (86%), Ashton Gibbs (85.5%)
Team Rebounding Leader: Nasir Robinson (6.6 rpg)
Most Inspirational Player: Ashton Gibbs, Nasir Robinson
Coaches Award: Dante Taylor
Academic Excellence Award: Malcolm Gilbert
Jaron Brown Pursuit of Academic Excellence Award: Cameron Wright
Woodall averaged 11.7 points and 6.1 assists per game. His return from injury briefly seemed to revive the team after a rough stretch in December, although the team fell apart down the stretch against Big East competition. Patterson averaged 9.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
