2012 NBA Draft: Does Kevin Jones Have First-Round Guarantee?

Stay connected for news and updates

Kevin Jones is the most likely of the area's players to be taken in the NBA Draft on Thursday, and now there's word that he may be a guaranteed first-round selection.

His agent says that a team has guaranteed they will take Jones if he falls to them, but he's also not believing it until he sees it:

"A team in the first round has committed to him," agent Bill Neff told SNY.tv. "The question is, what does that mean? I never trust anything other than what happens on draft night.

"He’ll get drafted," Neff added. "It’s either them in the first or early second."

Jones' agent, of course, is right. Teams have reportedly guaranteed they'd draft players before only to find reasons to pass on them. Jones' monster season may have put him in good position for a first-round pick, but plenty of mock drafts are still projecting him in the second.

Regardless of what happens, though, Jones should definitely be taken at some point Thursday night.
