2013 basketball recruit Jamel Artis is expected to decide between Pitt and La Salle this weekend.

Jamie Dixon could be paying extra close attention to 2013 recruiting target Jamel Artis. On Saturday, the small forward is expected to make his decision on where to attend college.

Artis' decision is reportedly down to Pitt and La Salle. On the surface, it might seem as if it's a slam dunk for the Panthers, but other factors could be at play here, such as playing time. Artis may see less of it in Oakland, and if he's interested in playing immediately, La Salle might be able to offer that opportunity.

Last month, he spoke about his recruitment after a game:

"I’m going to decide after Peach Jam," revealed Class of 2013 forward Jamel Artis at the recently concluded Nike Skills U Camp, of his announcement timetable. Still dripping sweat after a game, he noted "Pittsburgh, La Salle, Miami, NC State, Providence" are the schools on his list, with La Salle and Pitt having tendered scholarship offers.

Artis is a three-star recruit according to Rivals.
