Thrashers Vs. Penguins: Sidney Crosby's Streak Continues With Monster Game

Sidney Crosby posted two goals and two assists, extending his points streak to 25 games, in the Penguins' 6-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers Tuesday night. The Thrashers scored twice in the first period (on goals by Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglien), but they were answered each time by Crosby. Crosby's first goal was one a mere mortal could have scored, as he received a pass from Kris Letang that gave him a very clear shot on a power play. On the second goal, Alex Goligoski passed down the ice to Crosby, who cut between two Atlanta defenders and beat Ondrej Pavelec for the score.

After the 2-2 first period, the only scoring in the second period came courtesy of Craig Adams, who scored a shorthanded goal. The Pens really opened the floodgates in the third period, as Chris Kunitz scored almost immediately after the period began, and was soon followed by Mark Letestu and Matt Cooke. Crosby assisted the goals to Kunitz and Cooke. Eric Boulton added a goal for the Thrashers with three minutes left. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 31 shots for the Pens.

The Pens play on the road against the Islanders Wednesday night.
