Penguins Vs. Flames Final Score: Pens' Four Second-Period Goals Key In 5-3 Win

The Penguins had four second-period goals en route to a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames late Saturday night.

The Flames ended the first period with a 1-0 lead, thanks to a goal from Curtis Glencross. In the second period, though, Tyler Kennedy fired a shot through the legs of Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff to tie the score. A power-play goal from Matt Niskanen followed. Craig Adams then scored, and Evgeni Malkin added a power-play goal of his own.

The Flames’ Rene Bourque scored midway through the third period to make it 4-2, and Olli Jokonen brought Calgary within one with about three and a half minutes to go. Jordan Staal scored with five seconds left to make it 5-3.

Marc-Andre Fleury had 17 saves for the Penguins. The 2-0 Pens will head to Edmonton, where they’ll play the Oilers Sunday night at 9:00 PM.
