Flyers Vs. Penguins Score Update: Jaromir Jagr Gives Philadelphia The Lead After Two Periods

After two periods at the Consol Energy Center, the Philadelphia Flyers lead the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1.

Jaromir Jagr gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead just six minutes into the second period. Thursday night marked the first time Jagr returned to Pittsburgh after spurning the Pens in the offseason to join the Flyers. He slipped a backhander past Marc-Andre Fleury for the lead. Jagr's line, which includes the dynamic Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell, has outplayed the Pens first line and given Brooks Orpik and Matt Niskanen problems. At the end of the second, Philly added to the lead when Fleury gave up a rebound in front that was slammed home by Matt Read to make it 3-1.

Giroux had set up Philly's first goal, feeding Kimmo Timonen on the power play to even it up at 1-1. Pittsburgh had taken the 1-0 lead in the first minute of the game when Jordan Staal beat Sergei Bobrovsky, who is filling for Ilya Bryzgalov after he was lit up by the Lightning earlier this week. The Pens first line will have to put more shots on goal and slow down the Jagr-Giroux combo in the third to get back in it.
