NHL Rumors: Jaromir Jagr Talks With Mario Lemieux

More news on the Jaromir Jagr front today as the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Josh Yohe reports the former Penguins forward today met with club owner and former teammate Mario Lemieux. Signals on whether a return to Pittsburgh is in the cards Jagr, though, are still mixed.

Lemieux came away encouraged by the conversation, according to sources.

However, the Penguins have not made an offer and are not convinced that Jagr would be willing to play for less money in Pittsburgh. Detroit is also interested in Jagr and likely will offer the NHL's 9th all-time leading scorer more money.

Yohe says there is debate within the organization over whether Jagr is still a top-six level forward and that general manager Ray Shero is hesitant to offer him more than $1 million. With a number of restricted and unrestricted free agents to worry about as well, the Pens will have to navigate the Jagr sweepstakes carefully.
