Jaromir Jagr Agrees To Deal With Penguins, Russian Paper Reports

Stay connected for news and updates

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but Gazeta, a popular Russian website, is reporting that Jaromir Jagr has agreed to terms with the Pittsburgh Penguins for a one-year deal $1.4 million. Here’s a rough translation of some of the key information, courtesy of Google Translate.

Jaromir Jagr 10 years later returned to the “Pittsburgh Pingvingz” by signing a contract with the NHL club for one season. According to Sportbox, officially will be announced on Friday, when the North American league free agent market opens. Approximate Salary 39-year old striker in the camp of the “penguin” will make $ 1.4 million.

I can’t evaluate the credibility of a Russian paper, even a popular one, so again, don’t get too excited here. We’ll probably hear something later on Wednesday regardless, so there’s no reason to freak out over one report. Still, this is some red meat for the many, many Penguins fans who badly want Jagr back. $1.4 million would be a very reasonable salary, a bit less than I was expecting, and it would leave the Penguins with about $5.5 million of cap room to go after Tyler Kennedy and Mike Rupp.
