Jaromir Jagr Rumors: Penguins Reportedly Optimistic That Jagr Will Sign

Dejan Kovacevic tweets that the Penguins think that Jaromir Jagr will ultimately sign with Pittsburgh. Maybe!

I’m hearing that #Pens think Jagr will choose them, but it’s not confirmed. Some #FOM sound optimistic. We’ll see.

This JagrWatch stuff continues to feel like it’s consuming itself – we’ll know soon enough, so at this point, there isn’t much sense in getting all worked up about any of this stuff, whether it’s turtles blocking Jagr’s path at JFK airport or an unconfirmed report that the Penguins believe Jagr will sign.

At this point, though, there’s still plenty of cause for guarded optimism. As I’ve said the past couple days, the buzz around Jagr and the Penguins has gotten so loud that it would be very surprising if he signed elsewhere. It would be very hard to imagine him signing with the Red Wings after all the reports that have come out recently. Nothing I’ve heard today changes that.

In the meantime, I’m sure there will be some very pertinent updates in the next half hour about Jagr flying into the Pittsburgh airport while disguised as a woman, Mario Lemieux striking deals with the Czech secret police, and Petr Svoboda sending coded text messages to Ray Shero from an underground hockey training facility in St. Petersburg. Just remember, you heard them here first. JagrWatch!
