The Boston Bruins couldn't get enough pucks past Marc-Andre Fleury as the Pittsburgh Penguins held on to win 2-1 and pick up their ninth win in their last eleven games.

Penguins Vs. Bruins Final Score: Pittsburgh Holds On To Win 2-1

The Pittsburgh Penguins led the Boston Bruins 1-0 after two periods, but the Penguins weren't going to rest on their laurels. Matt Cooke picked up his ninth goal of the season early in the third period to put the Penguins up 2-0. Cooke's goal was assisted by Dustin Jeffrey and Pascal Dupuis. The Bruins answered shortly after to cut the lead back to just one goal.

Joe Corvo picked up his third goal of the season mid-way through the third period to cut the Penguins' lead to 2-1, as the goal was assisted by Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. The Bruins just couldn't get another puck past Marc-Andre Fleury however, as the Penguins held on to win 2-1 and pick up their ninth win in their last 11 games.

Penguins Vs. Bruins Score Update: Pittsburgh Leads 1-0 After Two

The Pittsburgh Penguins headed to Boston to take on the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins in the hopes of picking up their ninth win in their last eleven games. The teams were tied up with no goals after the first period, but the Penguins struck early in the second period when Evgeni Malkin picked up his 28th goal of the season on a power play, assisted by Chris Kunitz and James Neal.

After two periods of play the Penguins enter the final period with a 1-0 lead over the Bruins. Boston leads the game in shots on goal with 20 and have 6 take aways, but they haven't been able to get a puck past Marc-Andre Fleury so far on the day.

Penguins Vs. Bruins Preview: Pittsburgh Looks To Stay Hot In Visit To Boston

The redhot Pittsburgh Penguins (29-18-4, 62 points) head to Boston Saturday afternoon, looking to take out the defending Stanley Cup champion Bruins (32-15-2, 66 points).

The Penguins are 8-2-0 in their last ten games, and had an eight-game winning streak stopped Wednesday night in a 1-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. During that eight game run, Evgeni Malkin tallied 10 goals and four assists. Malkin was named the NHL's Second Star for the month of January after scoring 12 goals in as many games.

The Bruins are coming off a 3-0 loss Thursday to the Carolina Panthers. Boston has been treading water of late, alternating wins and losses over their past 10 games.

In the previous meeting between the two teams this season, Boston prevailed 3-1 behind 45 saves from goaltender Tim Thomas. Matt Cooke scored the lone goal for the Penguins.
