Penguins Kris Letang Has Concussion Symptoms

The Pittsburgh Penguins picked up a victory over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night, but in the victory they lost Kris Letang. Eric Nystrom nailed Letang with a big hit in the game, knocking him out quite literally. On Thursday afternoon, we found out that Letang is suffering from concussion like symptoms, which is something Penguins fans are unfortunately all too used to hearing.

This would be Letang's second concussion of the season, so it's not certain he'll be able to make it back into the lineup. The Penguins are already without Sidney Crosby for concussion issues, and losing Letang for any length of time would be a huge blow as Pittsburgh has been on a role and looking to go deep in the playoffs once again.

Penguins Vs. Stars Final Score: After Shootout, Pens Win Fourth Straight, But Lose Kris Letang

The Penguins defeated the Dallas Stars in a shootout Wednesday night, 4-3, as Pascal Dupuis scored the game-winner. However, they lost Kris Letang to injury.

Eric Nykstrom hit Letang in the first period, causing the Pens' star defenseman to go down. That's not good news for a player who has had concussion issues in the past. The scope of his injury is unclear.

Jamie Benn scored for the Stars late in the first period, but Steve Sullivan quickly answered, scoring on a breakaway after a long pass by Pascal Dupuis.

Marc-Andre Fleury kept the Penguins in the game with a series of brilliant saves in the second period, but Sheldon Souray finally managed to get one past him with only seconds left before the intermission.

The Pens tied the game at two early in the third period when Craig Adams picked up a rebound on a shot by Jordan Staal. A minute later, Chris Kunitz redirected a Paul Martin shot to give the Pens the lead. The Stars quickly came back, however, with a goal by Michael Ryder.

The game headed to overtime and then to a shootout, where Pascal Dupuis shot the game-winner, as Ryder’s miss clinched the game for the Pens.

The Penguins (37-21-5) have won four straight and will take on the Colorado Avalanche on the road on Saturday.
