Sunday afternoon the Pittsburgh Penguins (48-24-6, 102 points) welcome the Philadelphia Flyers (45-24-9, 99 points) to the Consol Energy Center for the first of two contests between the two teams over the next week. If the current Eastern conference standings were to hold, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia would also begin the playoffs facing each other for the second time in the last four years.

Pittsburgh trails the New York Rangers by five points for the top seed, but despite having the second-most points in the East the Penguins are the No. 4 seed. Philadelphia stands three points behind the Penguins in the No. 5 position, comfortably ahead of the sixth-place New Jersey Devils.

Sidney Crosby has excelled in his career against the Flyers, amassing 48 points in 29 regular season games. On the other hand, fellow star Evgeni Malkin has struggled against Philadelphia, with just nine points and a minus-4 rating in eight games against the Flyers since the beginning of last season.
