The Pittsburgh Penguins want to even the series against the Philadelphia Flyers. Can the defense and the power play improve enough to tie the series at one game a piece?

The PIttsburgh Penguins look to even their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Philadelphia Flyers in game two Friday night at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. The Penguins will be trying to put game one's loss in the back of their minds to try and even the series before it shifts to Philadelphia.

The game is scheduled for a start at 7:30 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on NBC Sports Network. Root Sports will provide the local broadcast for the Pittsburgh market.

The Penguins have to play hard in all three periods if they are going to even the series up. After allowing the Flyers to erase a three goal first period lead should be the wake up call the Penguins defense needs to play hard the rest of the series.

Another area the Penguins have to improve upon is the power play. The Penguins are 1-for-44 on the power play in the playoffs dating back to their 2010 series with the Montreal Canadiens.

Pittsburgh will probably not have the services of defenseman Matt Niskanen, who is recovering from an upper body injury.
