Gerrit Cole Ranks No. 4 In Baseball America's AFL Top Prospects List

Baseball America (subscribers only) lists the top 10 prospects in the Arizona Fall League. The Pirates' Robbie Grossman, who dominated the league for several weeks before suffering a hamate injury, isn't included, but another Pirate, 2011 first-overall draft pick, comes in at No. 4, behind Bryce Harper, Mike Trout and Danny Hultzen. Hultzen was the No. 2 overall pick (by the Mariners) in 2011, so BA's decision to place Cole below him might lead to a little bit of griping by Pirates fans, but it's probably best to wait awhile before joining the gripers yourself - Cole's stuff is filthy.

Harper was the No. 1 overall choice (by the Nationals) in 2010. The Angels' Trout, the No. 25 overall pick in 2009, didn't hit well in the AFL, but he dominated Class AA last year as a 19-year-old.

Morgantown native and West Virginia University product Jedd Gyorko, now with the Padres, ranked No. 10 on the list.
