Diamondbacks Vs. Pirates: Lyle Overbay's Clutch Double Gives Pirates Win In Eighth

The Pirates stayed in their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday night despite Kevin Correia's mediocre start, and won 8-5 thanks to a five-run eighth inning capped by a bases-clearing double by Lyle Overbay.

Correia struggled with his command throughout his start and allowed solo homers to Kelly Johnson and Juan Miranda. He also allowed a two-run single by Johnson in the fifth inning and finished his outing with five innings pitched and four earned runs.

Meanwhile, though, the Pirates scored two runs in the second and one in the fourth, and after Correia left the game, the Pirates' bullpen allowed only one run, on a solo homer by Chris Young. That made it 5-3 in the bottom of the eighth. Garrett Jones, Jose Tabata and Josh Harrison had three straight hits to lead off the inning. Then Xavier Paul reached on a fielder's choice and Andrew McCutchen walked, and Overbay brought everyone home. Joel Hanrahan pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the save.
