2011 MLB All-Star Game: Bruce Bochy Felt Heat For McCutchen Snub

Stay connected for news and updates

Dejan Kovacevic has coverage of the 2011 MLB All-Star Game from Arizona. After a bunch of wrangling, the game now features three Pirates: Joel Hanrahan, Andrew McCutchen and Kevin Correia. McCutchen and Correia were added after the initial rosters were announced.

There are some nice quotes in the story, particularly the one from McCutchen saying that the Pirates are “a Cinderella story.”

N.L. manager Bruce Bochy sounds like he felt the sting (from, presumably, Clint Hurdle and others) for not adding McCutchen to the roster the first time around.

Bochy acknowledged the furor that preceded his finally adding McCutchen as an injury replacement.

“I got hit pretty hard for McCutchen, so I was glad to get him on there,” Bochy said.

Yeah, me too, and it’s nice to see McCutchen finally get the love he deserved.

The All-Star Game is on Tuesday at 8:00 PM.
