Felix Pie, Erik Cordier and Brooks Brown are among six players signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates to minor-league deals. The three received invitations to the club's spring training roster.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed six minor-league free agents, according to an announcement via the team's official twitter account on Wednesday morning.

The team has acquired outfielder Felix Pie, pitcher Brooks Brown, pitcher Erik Cordier, pitcher David Bromberg, catcher Luis Sanz and utility man Alex Valdez. In addition, the Pirates have offered spring training invites to Brown, Cordier and Pie.

Pie was originally signed by the Chicago Cubs as an amateur free agent in 2001 and made his major league debut with the team in 2007. He played two seasons in Chicago before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles for Garrett Olson and minor league pitcher Henry Williamson in 2009. He was designated for assignment in August of 2011 and opted for free agency following the completion of the season.

He spent last season as a member of the Atlanta Braves' Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Braves.

Brown and Cordier have yet to make their major league debuts. Brown was selected with the No. 34 overall selection in the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cordier was a second-round choice of the Kansas City Royals in the 2004 draft.
