Jameson Taillon Is Pirates' Top Prospect, MLB.com Says

MLB.com lists the Pirates' top 20 prospects, with writeups for all of them and videos for some. MLB.com is one of the few prospect outlets that doesn't have Gerrit Cole as the Pirates' No. 1 pick -- Jameson Taillon is there instead. Starling Marte and Josh Bell place third and fourth, about as expected.

There are a couple surprises after that. Stetson Allie is at No. 5 despite his poor season at State College, and Justin Wilson, who may turn out to be a reliever going forward, is at No. 10, ahead of starting pitching prospects like Kyle McPherson and Nick Kingham. And Jeff Locke, who struggled with his command in his big-league debut last year, is at No. 9.

The second half of the list is heavy on young Class A arms -- Kingham, Colton Cain, Zack Von Rosenberg and 2012 draftee Clay Holmes are all there.
