Rockies Vs. Pirates: Jamie Moyer, Kevin Correia To Pitch As Series Gets Off To Late Start

Stay connected for news and updates

Monday’s game between the Rockies and Pirates was scheduled to be a matchup between 49-year-old Jamie Moyer and the Pirates’ Kevin Correia. Monday was a washout due to poor weather in Pittsburgh, and the game was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday, but Tuesday’s game at 7:05 will feature Monday’s matchup, as Correia and the Pirates will face Moyer. That means you can indulge in all the jokes you like about how, after Monday’s postponement, Moyer is even older now that it’s Tuesday.

The griping about the Pirates’ horrible offense so far this year is already (justifiably) loud, but you can expect it to become deafening if the Pirates can’t get to Moyer. His fastball, never a great pitch, now averages just 78 MPH. He’s coming off a good start against the Padres, and he can still get by with some help from his defense. But he isn’t a good starting pitcher, he doesn’t look like a good starting pitcher, and he’s 49.
