But despite a triple in Tuesday night’s game, McCutchen’s offense has slowed recently, with his OPS dropping from .904 on April 18 to .750. The hot-hitting Pedro Alvarez, meanwhile, bats fifth.

Cardinals starter Lynn allowed one run and one walk while striking out four in seven innings in a win over the Pirates on April 20.
