Reds Vs. Pirates: Cincinnati Powers Past Pittsburgh, 6-1

The Cincinnati Reds used the long ball to secure a 6-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday night at PNC Park.

With the score 3-1, Reds in the top of the seventh inning, Zack Cozart and Drew Stubbs hit back-to-back home runs off Pittsburgh starter Kevin Correia to make the score 5-1. Cincinnati added another run in the top of the eighth inning when Jay Bruce hit his eighth home run of the season off of reliever Chris Resop to make the score 6-1.

Johnny Cueto went the distance for the Reds, scattering seven hits, striking out three, and throwing just 111 pitches. He improved his record to 4-0 with the win. Correia took the loss, dropping to 1-2 on the year after allowing five earned runs on nine hits over seven innings. The Pittsburgh starter also walked one and struck out three.
