Pirates Vs. Phillies Lineup: Bryan Morris Demoted, No Drew Sutton

In order to clear roster space for Jeff Karstens to start Monday night in Philadelphia, the Pirates have demoted reliever Bryan Morris, as expected. Morris got to spend just one day in the big leagues, and he didn’t get to pitch.

I had expected that there would be another roster move Monday afternoon in order to make room for infielder Drew Sutton, who the Pirates recently claimed on waivers, but Sutton is not listed in the starting lineup or on the bench in the Pirates/Phillies lineup card, so we’ll see if that happens Monday. Here’s who is listed:

Alex Presley LF
Jose Tabata RF
Andrew McCutchen CF
Garrett Jones 1B
Neil Walker 2B
Pedro Alvarez 3B
Rod Barajas C
Clint Barmes SS
Jeff Karstens P

Jimmy Rollins SS
Juan Pierre LF
Hunter Pence RF
Carlos Ruiz C
Shane Victorino CF
Placido Polanco 3B
Ty Wigginton 1B
Mike Fontenot 2B
Joe Blanton P

The Pirates list a short bench of Casey McGehee, Matt Hague, Josh Harrison and Michael Kenry.

UPDATE: Sutton will join the Pirates on Tuesday.
