Ken Rosenthal reports that, as of Sunday night, the Pirates weren't big players for Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino.
Things can change quickly over next 31 hours, but #Pirates did not seem alive on Victorino as of late last night. #Phillies
These kinds of reports don't necessarily mean a whole lot, as things change quickly this time of year, and teams have all kinds of reasons for telling reporters things. There has reportedly been plenty of interest in Victorino, with the Giants, Dodgers and Reds also looking like possible destinations. For the Pirates, he'd be a steady presence to go with Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte in the Pirates' outfield, moving Alex Presley to the bench and pinning Casey McGehee to the bench against righties. That would be valuable to the Pirates, particularly since Victorino would also be very helpful on defense.
