The Pirates announced early Tuesday morning that they have traded relief pitch Brad Lincoln to the Blue Jays in exchange for left-handed hitting outfielder Travis Snider.

Snider, 24, is hitting .250 with three home runs, eight RBIs and an .829 OPS in limited big league action this season. In 56 games prior to being called up on July 20, Snider hit .335 with 13 home runs, 56 RBIs and a 1.021 OPS at Triple-A Las Vegas in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. In parts of five Major League seasons, he has a career batting average of .247 and OPS of .734.

Lincoln, 27, is 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA and 60 strikeouts against 14 walks in 59.1 innings this season, pitching mostly out of the Pirates bullpen. He has been used primarily in a long relief role for Pittsburgh.
