Travis Snider Trade: Neal Huntington Comments On Deal

The Pirates traded relief pitcher Brad Lincoln for Blue Jays outfielder Travis Snider very early on Tuesday morning, but the hour didn't keep Bucs general manager Neal Huntington from commenting on the trade.

Via MLB.com's Tom Singer.

"We think he will fit in well with us in right," said Huntington, who has had his eyes for a long while on someone he considers "a hard-nosed player with power who likes to use the whole field and can make pitchers pay for their mistakes."

Huntington also called Lincoln a "quality pitcher who will have an outstanding career" with his new organization north of the border, but noted the Pirates needed to give up value to get value.

Elsewhere in Singer's piece, Snider said he was excited to be joining a "contending organization" in the Pirates and that he looking forward to the opportunity to play in October. His new club will start the day three games back of the Reds in the National League Central and three games up on the Dodgers and Giants for the second wildcard spot.
