In recent years, one of the more intriguing parts of MLB All-Star Weekend has become the Futures Game, showcasing top prospects in the minor leagues in an exhibition game of U.S. versus World. The 2012 Futures Game will be played on Sunday at Kaufmann Stadium, before the big leaguers invade Kansas City for the main event.
Two young right-handers will represent the Pirates on the U.S. roster: Altoona's Gerrit Cole and Bradenton's Jameson Taillon. Both are flamethrowers, with Cole even being mentioned as having the best fastball in this year's Futures Game, from non other than ESPN's Keith Law.
