Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte will be returning to the lineup on Friday night against the Chicago Cubs after spending time on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained oblique muscle. Marte sustained the injury during a game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Aug. 18.
Since being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on July 26, Marte had registered a .253 batting average with four home runs and 10 RBI in 23 games played.
He is expected to bat second tonight in the lineup.
